Donna Arsenault

Past-President

Donna started as a volunteer for BGC Summerside chaperoning dances, working on various projects, and volunteering at different fundraisers.

Donna became a board member in 2003. She has been president and now is past president. Donna continues to volunteer when ever possible.

Garth Doiron

Treasurer

Garth, a Certified Professional Accountant, has been providing clients with investment and financial planning advice for over 16 years. He spent the first seven years in the business building his own practice before partnering with Cudmore Ross Wealth Management in 2009 to help serve their client base. Garth spends most of his days providing direct investment and/or financial planning advice to our clients.

Garth graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a BBA and a major in Accounting in 1991. He earned the Certified General Accountant’s designation in 1996. Garth worked as a Financial Controller for private businesses for many years before transferring his skills to the investment business. His CPA desigination provides him with a good knowledge of tax issues with which our entrepreneurial clients may be dealing.

As a Past President of the Summerside Chamber of Commerce, Garth has served on many volunteer boards over the years and is currently acting as  Treasurer on the Board of the Summerside Boys and Girls Club and Youth Engagement Center. Garth and his wife Lisa have two boys, Zach and Tanner. In his spare time Garth likes to keep active whether it’s walking the dogs with Lisa, working out at the gym, or playing squash hockey and golf.

Derek Bondt

Director

An associate lawyer, Derek practices primarily in the Summerside office of Key Murray Law and also meets with clients at the firm’s office in Charlottetown. From his time as a summer student and article clerk with Key Murray Law, Derek gained valuable experience prior to joining the firm as an associate. He has already appeared at all levels of court in Prince Edward Island, despite only recently getting called to the Bar, and is able to quickly identify client legal issues and devise practical solutions.

Derek graduated from the University of Ottawa’s Canadian Law Program with both J.D. and LL.L. degrees and is fluent in both French and English.  An active member in his Island community, Derek currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Summerside and the Board of Directors for the Prince County Hospital. Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.

Paul Power

Director

Paul works as an insurance agent for PEI Mutual Insurance in Summerside.  He has a BBA from UPEI and a CIP, chartered insurance professional diploma from the Insurance Institute of Canada. Paul is a four-time PEI junior curling champion.  He also played for team New Brunswick at the 1990 Labatt Brier which lost in the final.  As a coach Paul coached Suzanne Gaudet’s PEI junior ladies team to Canadian Championships in 2001 and again in 2002.  The team went on to win gold at the 2001 World Junior Curling Championship in Ogden, USA.  In 2001, he received Sport PEI coach of the year.  He is a member of the PEI Sport Hall of Fame. Paul is a former city councilor for the City of Summerside (2004-2006).  Besides serving on the board of the Boys and Girls Club, Paul’s volunteer involvement includes serving as a board member for the Prince County Hospital Foundation, former president and member of the Rotary Club of Summerside, former board member of Sport PEI, member of the 2023 Canada Winter Games bid committee, and football coach. Interests include golf, baseball, football, and volunteering in the community.

Curtis Reilly

Curtis Reilly is currently the Partnership & Business Developer with the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of Prince Edward Island (the Confederacy). With over 13 years experience working as an Employment Counselor with Indigenous youth & adults in Lennox Island First Nation and across PEI; Curtis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on Indigenous programming, on how individuals can overcome barriers to employment, life & essential skills training and the develop of personalized career plans.  During his time with the organization, Curtis has established numerous meaningful partnerships with local businesses, non-for-profit organizations and with all levels of government for the advancement of Indigenous peoples in the labour market.  Through his work at the Confederacy, Curtis has partnered extensively with the various programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Summerside and the Youth Engagement Centre.  Together there has been successful initiatives involving Indigenous summer student employment, cultural awareness, community guest speaker events and an increased participation of Indigenous peoples at the celebrity dinner & golf tournament and more.

Curtis is a graduate of St. Thomas University.  He holds a BA with a double major in Criminology & History with a minor in Political Science. Curtis has gained considerable work experience with the Office of the Attorney General PEI and the Eastern School Board District.  He is an active board member of the Lennox Island Development Corporation and former board member at the East Prince Youth Development Centre.

In 2012, Curtis joined the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Summerside.  He looks forward to many more new and exciting opportunities that the Boys & Girls Club of Summerside develops.
